  • Bitter orange peel (Citrus Aurantium) (700 mg)

  • Green tea extract (50% polyphenols) (500 mg)

Green tea is a great antioxidant, it’s full of catechins (which increase cell oxidization in the body). Studies suggest that catechins can increase the body’s energy expenditure, by boosting the metabolism.

  • Caffeine anhydrous (400 mg)

Even small amounts of caffeine anhydrous have been shown to increase the metabolism and alertness. Although the effects are small, this can help with fat loss as the increased metabolism helps to increase calorie expenditure.

  • DL-Phenylalanine (200 mg)

Amino acids are important for cell repair and growth, making amino acids an important factor to retaining muscle. DL-Phenylalanine is a the laboratory-made version of an amino acid. It can also be used for treating depression, although studies are outdated on this claim. More testing needs to be done to back this up.

  • Green coffee bean extract (19%) (120 mg)

Although the green coffee beans have received some skeptical opinions on its use in aiding fat loss. It does contain “Chlorogenic acid” (CGA). An important natural chemical that’s used for lowering blood sugar levels. It may be beneficial for preventing diabetes in the long term.

  • Alpha lipoic acid (100 mg)

The fatty acid appears to increase fat burning slightly, although the effects are not as large as its noted appetite suppression properties. It suppresses the appetite by inhibiting AMPK in the hypothalamus, although, not enough research has been done to prove this fact in human studies.

  • Dandelion root (Taraxacum officinale) (50 mg)

Mainly used as a diuretic and a laxative, ideal if you a looking to shed water weight.

  • Bioperine (Black Pepper extract) (8 mg)

  • Cayenne pepper extract (0.40 mg)

There are many reported benefits of Cayenne Pepper, such as the high amount of vitamin A, B6, E, C, riboflavin, potassium, and manganese. Cayenne Pepper is also a great tool for increasing fat burning effects. My Verdict

Lean degree Max Strength by PhD has some positive benefits due to the fact that it contains amino acids, which are important for retaining muscle whilst in a calorie restrictive diet. Also, the added ingredient of fatty acids, which could help to remove unwanted fat in the body. It also has diuretic properties such as the dandelion root, which is great if you want to shed a lot of water weight. Although this could be counter productive as the mixture of a diuretic and caffeine may cause dehydration.

However, as for fat burning effects, there are only one two main ingredients that will increase the thermogenic effect significantly to increase fat loss by speeding up the metabolism, and that’s the Caffeine anhydrous and green tea extract. It does contain green coffee bean extract, but this is debatable for fat loss and the increase of the metabolic effect that caffeine has

It’s also slightly skeptical in the use of bitter orange peel, as this could react very badly with some people. This is something that you’ll want to look closely at when choosing a fat burner, as making the wrong choice could lead to some nasty after effects. So anyone with high blood pressure or taking other medications or supplements may want to think carefully before buying anything with bitter orange peel and caffeine mixed together.

Take Home Points

  • Good: Contains amino acids for exercise recovery
  • Bad: Bitter Orange Peel has been known to cause side effects
  • Bad: Large amounts of caffeine, when mixed with Bitter Orange Peel causes anxiety in many
